The Edinburgh Festival is the dazzling hectic backdrop for the next murder in the Grasshopper Lawns series - although the wrong person got murdered, which does complicate things a bit. Turns out, the killer's body count is alarmingly high but nobody guessed at that when Edge’s actress stepdaughter, performing in a successful Fringe show, accused her of the murder.
Edge has a fair amount on her mind as it is - an unexpected relationship she’s not entirely sure is a good idea, Donald isn't being as supportive as expected, William and Vivian are settling comfortably into their relationship, Miss P is being pursued by an intense admirer, and Kirsty’s ex Rory steps rather literally onto the stage. And this time there's - inevitably - fancy dress, performing artists, melodrama, and theatrical makeup, leading to the climax. How not, during the fabulous Edinburgh Festival? A romp of a book bathed in August sunshine, with the engaging foursome proving they may be old enough to know better but they're certainly young enough to enjoy themselves very much anyway.
