Dan Zane Smith

About the author


Dan Zane Smith was stricken with polio at age five and has no use of his right upper extremity and partial usage of his left. Despite this, he attended public school, participated in sports, and played trumpet. In the past, he has been a branch manager, a disability claim specialist, and a disability analyst for the state of Oregon for over 16 years.

He has worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for 12 years and as an education coordinator and teacher for nine years. He has a bachelor's degree in history from California State University at Northridge and has lived in New Mexico, Southern California, and Oregon. He is married and has three children and two grandchildren. His active imagination, lifelong struggles, education, and work history inspired his books.
