Carolyn Purcell Jaco

Carolyn grew up in rural Maine, and has lived in Massachusetts, Montana, Oregon, and Oklahoma. Retired from a four decade career in museum work, she continues her passion for history through writing fiction that explores the interface between the past and present.

After earning a Bachelors Degree in English Literature at Montana State University, Carolyn went on to University of Oklahoma to earn an Masters Degree in Liberal Studies focusing on history and cultural geography. Her thesis, Sense of Place in the Story of Pearl Daniels won a scholastic aptitude award from OU. She worked at Museum of the Rockies and Columbia Gorge Discovery Center before retiring in 2022 to write fiction. Her museum career included collections management, exhibit development, publishing local history titles through Wasco County Historical Museum Press, financial management and fundraising, as well as executive management.

She now lives in rural Oklahoma with her husband, Josh, and their dogs, cats, horse, and goat.
